FAQ

General

Expandatrack Ltd is a established company and is well known throughout Canterbury.
This gives you peace of mind we are not going anywhere. Also we have over 20 years knowledge in the industry which definitely helps when choosing the right furnishing on your windows or doors.
We are known to be hundreds or thousands less than other companies with measure and quotes.
There is no 'middle-man' when it comes to roller blinds- we manufacture these ourselves so turnaround is fast and efficient.

Our Curtain Range of curtains are mixed with plain neutrals to designs and colorful patterns which there is something to suit everybody's taste.
We offer free samples nationwide and all our stock fabrics are hanging up in full length at our showroom.

This can differ from home to home and also depends highly on what products are chosen.

In saying this our average pricing for houselots currently are between $2000-$5000 so as you can see we are very competitive in a market we have much knowledge about.
Of course this depends qty of windows and furnishings you choose.

Yes of course- we often do this. If your product (wider roller blinds and over length curtain tracks) would incur a shipping charge.
We would advise of this prior to placing the custom order.
Whether you are buying online through our website or you send measurements/plans through; we can work with you to ensure your furnishings and your measuring would be exactly what we would carry out onsite.

We are often asked this question. So now there are many Trends and different blinds coming out on the market just about daily.
Through our experience we believe we can give you a guide for the most thermal blind.

Of course Curtains are always the most thermal (depending on lining etc) as fabric is a thermal property already.
So here is our recommended list from most thermal to least in our opinion.

1/Roman Blind - These are also made from curtain fabric so therefore would be the most thermal blind
2/ Honeycomb Blind - These have had a lot of research and due to the makeup of the honeycomb fabrics and controls in front (not on side) would have to be the next.
3/ Thermal Roller Blind - Of course if these are fitted outside the frame would make these even more thermal indeed.
4/ Vision Blind - These are made up of a non-thermal fabric however would still apply some form of thermal
5/ Vertical Blinds - Again a non-thermal fabric however unlike the roller blind has many more gaps that heat and cold can escape.
6/ Wooden Blinds - Provide Minimal Insulation due to be wooden and open slats
7/ Aluminium Venetians - Provide minimal insulation due to being aluminium and open slats

We understand there are many more blind products on the market however we have stated some of the more well-known blinds above

If you have cold or non-insulated home then curtains are always the way to go.

Always ensure the lining on the back is breathable and also a thermal lining.
There are many on the market saying they are thermal but would not be much better than a sheet hanging at your window.
Here's a guide to go by for you.

Curtains- Always feel the curtains or samples to ensure they are not voile thin- your curtains also don't have to be over heavy to make them more thermal (this would just put extra strain on your curtain track or rod)
You will know when you feel them-
Lining: If you are after Thermal curtains ensure you don't buy thermal backed or thermal coated curtains. As these will apply a little thermal they wont even be half as good compared to actual thermal lined curtains. Remember thermal backed(coated) curtains cannot breathe so heat will be bouncing off this coating instead of retaining it.

Floor Length curtains always look better (due to the weight of extra fabric) and will always add more thermal insulation to your home.
Fit them above the frame(on the wall) to help with extra insulation above also.

In many cases the cleaners often come through after the carpet also prior to your furnishings going up.

We take pride in presenting your furnishings (dressing down etc) for when you see them so it is best no-body else touches these prior to you seeing these.
You may have to discuss this with your building company for access and to ensure it wont interfere with driveway work etc.
